Tasting Notes

All-Weyermann, All-German Pils.

Fräulein is our first German-style pils — the angular cousin to Prior Preferred's softer Czech tradition. Where Czech pilsners are round and floral, German pilsners are crisp and assertive, with sharper bitterness and a drier finish.

We chase that German character with 100% Weyermann pilsner malt, Saaz for floral aroma, and Perle for clean spicy bitterness. High attenuation does the rest — Fräulein finishes bone-dry, the way the style demands.

Order one alongside O.G. Pils and Prior Preferred for a continental pilsner flight: American, Czech, German — all three traditions, all four-week cold conditioned, all on the same bar.

Process

How it gets to the glass.

  1. 01

100% Weyermann pilsner malt — the same all-German malt program we run on Helles. Honey-and-cracker base character without any caramel or biscuit interference.

  2. 02

Saaz noble hops for floral character, Perle for spicy bitterness. Highly attenuated for a dry crisp finish. Four weeks cold conditioning, like every lager.

The Short Answers

About Fräulein.

How is a German pilsner different from a Czech pilsner?
German pils (this beer) is drier, crisper, with sharper bitterness — Saaz floral character but a more assertive finish. Czech pilsner (our Prior Preferred) is softer, rounder, more about the floral hop and a fuller body. Pour both side-by-side for the lesson.
Why all-Weyermann malt?
Weyermann is the gold standard of German malting. Using their pilsner malt exclusively gives Fräulein the honey-and-cracker base character that defines the German pils tradition. No shortcuts on the malt.
On tap right now?
Yes — Fräulein is a regular on the lager side. Call (484) 231-1501 to confirm before a special trip.
