Tasting Notes

Brewed for the Cause.

Boundless Love is our annual contribution to Ales For ALS — a national craft-beer initiative that supports the ALS Therapy Development Institute through hops donated by Yakima Chief. This is our third year on it.

Yakima Chief donates the hop bill — two proprietary blends plus a roster of single varieties (HBC 522, HBC 1019, Krush, Simcoe, Mosaic). The hops change each year, so Boundless Love is never the same beer twice.

Every batch is brewed with those donated hops. Order one and ask the bar about how this year's Ales For ALS program supports the cause.

Appearance
Hazy gold to soft yellow, dense pillowy head. Veiled and silky in the glass.
Aroma
A wall of tropical fruit — mango, pineapple, passionfruit, citrus zest — courtesy of the multi-blend hop bill.
Flavor
Juicy and soft through the middle — tropical fruit forward, with a clean malt backbone that lets the hops do the talking. Restrained NEIPA bitterness on the finish.
Mouthfeel
Soft, full, pillowy. Low carbonation, low bitterness, the classic NEIPA texture.
Pairings
  • Jerk chicken
  • Banh mi
  • Mango salsa with chips
  • Spicy fish tacos
  • Sharp cheddar
Stainless-steel fermentation tanks lined along the back wall of the von C Brewing Co. brewhouse in Norristown PA — bar stools at the foot of the tanks, polished concrete floor reflecting the warm overhead work lights, the place every batch of every beer on the tap list passes through
Process

How it gets to the glass.

  1. 01

Two proprietary Yakima Chief hop blends donated for Ales For ALS, plus HBC 522, HBC 1019, Krush, Simcoe, and Mosaic — a kitchen-sink of tropical fruit character.

  2. 02

House hazy yeast strain layered onto a soft oat-and-wheat grain bill. Dry-hopped heavy on the cold side to lock in the aroma.

The Short Answers

About Boundless Love.

What is Ales For ALS?
A national craft-brewing initiative that supports the ALS Therapy Development Institute. Yakima Chief donates the hops to participating breweries; each brewery brews an annual beer with that hop bill. Visit alesforals.com for current program details.
Will the same Boundless Love come back next year?
Not exactly. The hop bill changes annually — that's the whole concept. This is our third edition. Each year's pour is its own moment.
Can I take some home?
When packaged: yes, in 16 oz four-packs at the taproom. Quantities are limited each year. Call (484) 231-1501 to check availability.
